Apple will be removing Elemental Asteroids from the iOS appstore

Apple has advised that they will be removing this app from the app store as it is duplicative. Elendil appealed and the appeal was denied.

I will not be porting this or any more Quest Classic expansions as they also may be considered duplicative.

  • That’s tragic D:

So that means no Asteroids series, Cursed Stone, and Dragon Jade, right? Am I missing any? So sad, you were so close to bringing the entire anthology to the updated engine. I really enjoyed the sci-fi setting in an otherwise fantasy world.

  • I just finished porting Cursed Stone and it's ready for testing. I have to talk to Elendil. I may be able to put up a Steam version or a file on Itchio for GOG.

We also have to see what happens when he uploads Dracon's Nest. Will they accept or reject it?

The worst part is that Apple may take down others of our games. For that reason, I'm hesitant to do any update now.

It's something that appears to be happening more frequently in the past few months. I feel sorry for developers who have worked months or years on a game only to have it rejected as "spam". That's heartbreaking. It seems to depend on the luck of which reviewer you get.

  • Hi, long time without posting.

My question follows Gondel516's question, but mine refers to the expansions they list. Will they still be developed for Android, Steam, and other platforms? Or is further development for expansions generally postponed?

Elendil wants to stop. But has agreed to upload Dracon's Nest and Abyssal Islands. He has Dracon's Nest and will get to it; we're working on Abyssal Islands.

Cursed Stone is ported. Needs testing. But Elendil does not want to put any of the new ported files up on mobile.

He's always liked to release on all platforms at the same time so I don't know about Steam or anything else.

He went through a lot of work appealing Apple's removal of Elemental Asteroids so right now I want to give him a rest. He has to work on the Quest2.

    We will have to see.

  • I understand and thank you for the reply and hard work through the years.

  • Any updates about this?I hope Android doesn't get affected by this.It would be terrible.

  • Just that they denied Elendil 's appeal. There is nothing we can do about it. After Dracon's Nest which Elendil has and Abyssal Islands which we're working on, any new expansions will be for the Quest2.

It seems in situations like this Apple thinks the developer is just trying to flood the app store with basically the same game.
