It didn’t reset the game.
It's been years since I did it but I think it should work. Make sure you have an empty save file to save there.
The main alien didn't spawn in the containment center- it's like the world never changed.
You may have to make a save file that's never been to Asteroids. This would be a good question to ask in the Redshift forum. redshift.hu because it's more related to the mechanics of the Quest.
When I did play, I had five save files and kept one at the captain in Mithria who had never been to any expansions.

I actually thought if Zarista were making any more remakes, to add that Naga sword in that expansion with a note, "Only take this if you have an unfinished quest on Asteroids. The certain player will know what I am talking about."
I had actually hoped the entire Asteroids series was going to be redone.
Redshift has moved on to the Quest II. Two new expansions I finished last year still haven't been uploaded. They are the last if ever.

I think I got it! You start a new game and choose your pre generated character.
Argh, no, it’s their pre generated one.
I need to use the one I am using.
You could try just starting over from Matras with a new character. Try to keep a lot of save files.
It seems Thor’s hammer is for a new character as well…
